25-year-old Aurora Teagarden returns to her hometown of Lawrenceton to pursue her grad degree. Aurora works as a teacher’s assistant in a crime fiction class and also waitresses at the local diner, where she shares her love of true crime with Sally, who is set to be married, and with rookie police officer Arthur.
