The Wirbelwind was one of several mobile anti-aircraft platforms built on the Panzer IV chassis. The vehicle featured a turret with a 2 cm Flakvierling 38; the turret could traverse as expected and was enclosed on the sides but not the top. In combat the 2cm gun was deemed ineffective against aircraft.
